Charitable Contributions October – December 2012

The 4th quarter of 2012 was very successful with over $8,692.50 being raised. The monies were distributed accordingly:

At our annual Christmas party on December 15, we raised over $730 to go towards the tragedy in Newtown, CT. In the meeting on December 19 the members agreed to allow the Aerie to contribute to this amount to make it an even $1,000. In addition, the Auxiliary contributed $200 for a grand total of $1,200. This money has not yet been sent; however, it will be as soon as a reputable charity is found. A special thanks to all the Aerie and Auxiliary members who helped us raise this money.

Summary of Charitable Contributions for 2011

Our total contributions from 50/50’s, pull tabs and other functions for 2011 is $13,627. However, adding contributions from members, ie., the Bob Williams Golf Tournament and the Bubba Merker Heart Walk (private donations), our grand total for the year is $17,192. We met our goal for the Diabetes Research Center ($5 per member) total $3,137. This has been added to the total already.

Annual Turkey Drive

Peter Wintermute and Turk (in photo) delivered 50 turkeys on November 22 that our generous ALVA 871 members donated to the Lazarus Ministry of Christ Church in Old Town. They were extremely grateful for the donation. The turkeys will be distributed, along with other donated food, to needy members of our community.
